Take courage to be that person who lives within you. Sometimes we are so hard on ourselves because we let perfection take over our minds. We constantly strive to not let the world down, but often times we are so focused on the outer world that we forget about ourselves. And this is where we forget to take courage to be that person that lives within us.
Have you ever stopped to reflect if you are living the life you want or living the life others are telling you to live, consciously or unconsciously? So often we have been programmed in such a way that we really don’t stop to take that sacred space to evaluate if we are merely living the life that others are telling us to live. Furthermore, we don’t make the connection that we are veering away further away from our heart, our dreams, our goals, and the Spirit that lives within us. As we move away, we let go of the courage to be our authentic radiant selves. We forget that we also are divine and significant.
It shouldn’t take courage to be ourselves, but at the same time we are constantly pulled in so many directions; therefore, stepping into our power does take courage to step away from all “noise” that tries to pull us away from who we are, the significant and divine person we are. We may feel that we are not unique or significant. And sometimes we are afraid to step within and discover more about the person who lives inside of us. We may feel that we don’t matter.
And sometimes we simply conform to this life of striving for perfection that we forget to live our life because we are so focused on creating this false image or perception of ourselves in the lens of perfection. We get upset at ourselves because we didn’t say or do something “right”. We chastise and/or criticize ourselves moment upon moment eventually creating years of unhappiness. Why do we create this cynical circle when it only leads us astray from that beautiful light inside of us? Why do we get so caught up in the small things? Why do we focus so much on the exterior of our reality that we forget the inner voice, the heart, the soul, the truth?
There can be many reasons, such as programming and beliefs systems that we have taken on that do not serve us. Maybe it was our family, cultural religious and/or personal beliefs. Maybe we simply did not realize the greatness that is within us. Or maybe we have chosen the path with the most resistance because we have always felt that life had to be difficult in order to achieve what we wanted. There could be many reasons. Whatever the reasons or thoughts we have, remember that we can always return to ground zero. We can always recreate the story that we have told ourselves. It is never too late to start again.
We all have courage; that I do believe. Sometimes it takes time to build that courage, just like performing your first dance class, applying for a job, standing up for someone, or speaking your truth fearlessly. Once you work through and with the fear you are building your character through the lens of courage. Courage does not leave, it is always present sometimes we just simply need to wake it up. Sometimes it can feel different, new, or both; but don’t forget it is there!
I invite you to take time to reflect if you are living the life you want or if you are living the life that others are telling you to live. Choose a day, set an alarm, and journal about this question. As you do this reflective exercise you will create consciousness and awareness. Do this reflective exercise as often as you feel called to do. With time you will discover more about yourself, your inner dialogue, the life that are living, and if you are truly living your heart’s desires. No matter what surfaces as you reflect and write do not be afraid to let it surface. Often times, we try not to focus on the obvious because it is too painful so take the time you need but don’t ever feel bad for any of your thoughts or feelings because they are present for a reason. Invite and engage with those feelings and thoughts as those may lead you to a place of healing. Sometimes we need to get uncomfortable to be courageous and that is OK. There is no shame in being you. Don’t justify you and don’t adapt to the world to fit in. Be uniquely and significantly you because that is what the world needs today. The world needs your courage to show up as you and no one else!
The world needs your courage to show up as you and no one else!
