Today’s Soul Sister Circle we brought forward living a ‘happy’ life and what that means. Sometimes I feel that this message can get watered down and drowned out because you hear it so much. ‘Be happy’, ‘choose happiness’, even the song ‘Happy’, we see this message so much. Today we explored some ways that we could expand more happiness in our life that adds to the richness of life and also how it can affect your mood, people you live with, and how you respond to things in your life.
I want to share with my blogging friends just a few things that came to me for our soul circle today. May these inspire you in a beautiful way today.
The first thing that, in my opinion, will add to more joy and happiness is LAUGHTER. Whether it’s laughter yoga or following someone on social media that makes you laugh, it’s one of the fastest ways to not only shift your attitude but it brings a scientific proven affect on your body. Laughing releases endorphins, and as Wikipedia states “a good laugh can be compared to a mild workout, as it exercises the muscles, gets the blood flowing, decreases blood pressure and stress hormones, improves sleep patterns and boosts the immune system”. So it’s no wonder it can naturally add more happiness to your life.
Change your way of thinking. Easier said than done, right? Sometimes. Yet, I do think that if you are consistently evaluating if things are something you want to hold on to or not is a perfect way to begin to shift your way of thinking. Think about what things are consistently making you feel down or bad, and let them goBe open to being a better version of you than you were the day before and you know that you are on the right path.
Do things you love. This is self explanatory. When we do the things we love, it naturally brings a smile to our face and lifts our spirits. If you don’t know what it is that you love, this is a tap on your shoulder from spirit to discover what it IS that you love. Go find it.
Imagine the best unfolding. Don’t be afraid to look at what you really want in your life and see yourself getting it. So many avoid this because they don’t want to be disappointed if things don’t work out due to expectations of how it should look or how it should unfold. The truth is that imagining getting what you want is a big part of achieving it. Read it over again.
Bask in the simple pleasures. Sometimes we feel like we have to do these grandiose things in order to feel the happiness. The truth is that its the simple things in life, such as spending time with loved ones, sleeping in on a day off, and a simple cup of coffee or tea to start your day can add more pleasure and happiness to your day. Take time to make your soul happy.
Be open to change by taking a chance and not playing it safe. When we play it safe we are staying inside of our comfort zone. What I have learned is that stepping outside of my comfort zone and taking a chance can be scary but almost always leads to rewarding treasures.
Live for today not yesterday or focusing on the future. Being present is something most of us have heard, but for me I can say that being present helps alleviate stress. And when you don’t have stress in your life, it opens space up for more happiness.
Focus on the things you can control and not on the things that you can’t, which also leads to…. Not comparing yourself to ANYONE! This one is a big one, and not always an easy one. When you focus on the things you can’t control then you feel less worthy, you feel anxious, and blocks happiness. So many times I see that this also leads to comparing yourself to others, which is a cycle for disaster. So if you change anything today, do this. Focus on the things that you CAN change or have control over and see what happens.
AND THE FINAL ONE, which is also one of the most important ….
Be with others who make you smile. There are studies show that we are happiest when we are around those who are also happy. Stick with those who are joyful and let rub off on you!
