Today’s message is on Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
We have studied verse 6 before, but today’s message is about connecting to that peace that God offers, that as today’s verse says transcends all understanding. Yesterday we talked about joy, and choosing joy even if you don’t feel like it. And sometimes when life has given us every reason to be stressed or feel sad, we can lean on this verse today.
I remember how incredibly stressed I felt when we moved from Idaho to Texas and found out that the guy that was hiring my husband for his new job just got fired. We sold everything and just moved almost 2K miles to come to a place with empty promises. I felt angry, really stressed, afraid, and a bit angry with God too. I can reflectively look back and remember times where if it wasn’t for leaning on God and learning to trust in Him, I don’t know where I would be. When we pray for God to take our burdens, He will. He may not physically take them away, there may be purpose that is still being worked out, but He can and will give you peace. It’s hard to explain how I felt. I still had the stress and I still had the fear, but I leaned on His understanding and not my own. I resisted the idea of sitting in the anger and frustration. As yesterday we talked about joy being a choice. Peace is just like that too, it’s a choice. When was the last time you felt this way and how did you deal with it? I want to encourage you today to pray about it, meditate on the verse, and ask God to help you through the time with the answers, solutions, and remember to relax. Take a deep breath and trust in the process. Faith can move mountains, because now when I think about some of those low times when we were going through that, it doesn’t even feel like my story now. Because I can see the growth and the wonderful things that have flourished in my relationship that oddly enough came from going through that.
Father God, thank you for today, thank you for the message, and most importantly, thank you for giving us peace especially in those times where we need it most and where we can’t see a way out of our situation. God, I lift my brothers and sisters today who are tuning in to the message today, may they feel the peace in their life and even as they hear this message be reminded of your love. Jesus, I pray that you reveal yourself to each of them in a way that will change them forever. You are so good. I love you. In Jesus name, amen
“I sit still, breath deeply, and surrender any stress and burdens”
Much love, prayers and some sparkles and sunshine!
