What is balance? As a Mom, that word can even feel unattainable or like a pipe dream right? Well, I asked a few soul sisters AND a couple of soul brothers about balance in their life, and below is what they had to say:
What does balance in your life mean as a MOM:
Maricela: Take baby steps, being attentive to our children and ourselves. Listen to our bodies, because sometimes when we try to just keep going when our body is telling us to stop that is when frustration can come in. Listen and honor what you are feeling with no expectation. The final thing, is to have fun!
Shannon: Balance as a mom means to me don’t try to be Wonder Woman just try to be the most loving, grace-giving and teacher to your children. It means not trying to make sure all is done or all is perfect. Don’t be hard on yourself when you can’t get everything done by this I mean the cleaning, getting them off to school, making 3 meals a day etc. It means finding that balance between being their mom yet listening like a friend, without trying to be their friend. It’s about finding that balance of grace and discipline.
Can you share a tip for how you create balance in your life? Answers below:
Kristin: Balance is all about ebb and flow with responsibilities and my own personal wants and desires. I really like to play in all worlds so I try to find a balance between all of them. Also striving to hold my authenticity in all my “different worlds.” Holding on to me no matter who I’m surrounded by or what I’m doing. That’s my new personal goal.
Tally: Balance in my life means to be in my flow and to have peace within the chaos. Flow is about moving forward in whatever way you define that. Chaos and uncertainty is going to happen daily but what peaceful flow can you create for yourself the moment you awake?
Sometimes it is best to just hang in the ebb to rest so you can get back in your flow. Flow (balance) is about honoring you. Honoring you is one tip that allows you to stay in a flow of peace.
Honoring you is different for everyone but some ideas are: Honoring you can be getting a massage, or getting out for a walk and listening to the wind in the trees or for the birds. Honoring you can mean telling yourself daily you love yourself by saying to you in the mirror “I love me.”
“Sometimes when I am feeling tense about something to honor me I just punch the air and it always makes me laugh especially when I do it in front of a mirror. It gives a good release in the body so you can shift your energies.”
Tanya: Love yourself enough to say yes to spending uninterrupted time with yourself doing you.
Kiko: Breathing, one inhalation, and one exhalation.
Michael: Connect with your heart and ask for a solution, and once you ask, know that your answer is already there.
Ahmad: Listen to your body, listen to your spirit because they are both always communicating to you
Shift~Align~Transform Technique:
Once I determine what it is that I want MORE of in my life, then I look at other areas that are are not giving me as much happiness and adjust time spent in those areas. This could even mean completely cutting things out of my schedule or life. I also have to say, that in the past I may have made decisions because I felt I needed to stick to something because I at one time wanted to do it, or sometimes because I would feel guilty, and I want to encourage you to give yourself the freedom today and always to do less or cut things out of your life that are not giving you joy, Yes, you heard that right, it is okay to do less! This is about creating your life intentionally and on YOUR TERMS!
Love you!
