A Recovering People Pleaser

Whether this feeling will last or not, for right now this is where I am at. If you can believe it, I began writing this blog post on my Birthday last summer. I guess I wasn’t ready to share, and I wasn’t ready to share my bio either.

Humility. Just like the Chinese Proverb says: ‘Be like bamboo, the higher you grow, the more you bow’

This is what God said to me in one of my prayers. Be humble. I didn’t take it like He was scolding me, actually quite the opposite. I felt I was being given some sort of deep wisdom that I was so lucky to learn about.

So I began reading what the bible says about humility and the verse that came off of the paper and spoke to me was Proverbs 11:2 that says: When pride comes, then comes shame, but with the humble comes wisdom. (NKJV)

So, what exactly does that mean? It sounds so heavy right?

My Darling Daughter…..

Part 1: The scars I bare mean the hurt is over

Part 2: The good, the bad, the pretty, the ugly

My Darling Daughter….

Just reading those words made me weep. That deep pain that I had felt just the night before. Tears streaming down my face, as I was remembering the last time I saw her. I was reflecting on the time that she wrote this letter and it was as if God was giving me a moment of time back.

Why was it so hard to read this letter? Because I missed her? Yes, I did and do miss her very much but it wasn’t just that. All of the emotions that felt like they had been locked inside for a long time come flooding out. Feelings of frustration in not understanding her choices in life, feelings of anger for her leaving my sisters and I. I went through feeling guilt within myself for feeling maybe I didn’t do enough? Maybe if I wasn’t frustrated with her, could I have helped her any more? These thoughts that pounded through my mind were now being released through my heart as I was surrendering them all to Jesus.

Never break a promise to yourself

Ouch, this one hits home because I HAVE broken promises to myself. Yet, I don’t want to beat myself up, rather, moving forward I choose to practice the self-love I teach to myself.

In a post earlier this week I shared “Because it’s the “small promises” that we break to ourself that sets an unhealthy unconscious pattern that whenever you set out to do something, you don’t believe yourself. It’s important that you don’t ever break that trust with yourself. I think of my kiddos when they were in High School and I always told them, “don’t lie to me, because once you do it’s harder to earn that trust back” and guess what? It’s no difference for yourself.” Continue reading “Never break a promise to yourself”

Leave the past behind…..

How many times have you heard this or even thought this? And yet, we sometimes it’s still hard. We can obsess, we can ‘wallow’ in our pain, we can beat ourselves up, or even hold on to painful things and bring them up over and over.

Living in the past keeps us from creating the life we truly crave. I was flipping through my Instagram account earlier and found a post I shared last year, and it’s so relevant for this topic!

“We cannot become who we want to be by holding on to who we are”

Closed For Spiritual Maintenance

Sometimes when you feel you have lost your way, you are really getting back on your path. Sometimes when you feel uninspired, it’s actually because God is working on you. Sometimes when you feel like things are falling apart they are actually falling together. Sometimes when you feel like you don’t know the direction of your life, it’s because God is speaking to you and you need to listen.

I have been in this place over the past few months where God has been working in my life in a deep way. If I were really honest, since leaving Idaho and moving to the South I feel as though my life has been in some sort of ‘holding position’ in a weird kind of way. As though I have been in an incubator, and that I can do only so much but it’s not my time to bust completely out of what is really meant for my life. The best way I can describe it is like you have the greatest pair of running shoes, and you know you are a fast runner, but your legs won’t get to full speed. You get on the track only to find your legs will only allow you to jog and not to bust out into a full on sprint! YET you can feel it right there. Anytime it’s going to happen…..  Continue reading “Closed For Spiritual Maintenance”

Keep Going

May you dare enough to keep running when you feel like stopping, or when quitting feels like the easier thing to do. May you feel inspired in your spirit to look up when the world is showing you to look down. May you feel empowered to surrender the weight of burden that is weighing you down. May you feel courageous enough to dream bigger than you have been taught. May the light illuminate your truth of authenticity to shine forward in all that you do. Keep walking, look up, and dare to be you, because you are exactly what the world needs, just as God made you.

We can’t become who we want to be by holding on to who we are

“We can not become who we want to be by holding on to who we are” ~Jena Harris

Last week we spoke about balance, and the topic was finding deeper balance with work, with self-care, and with success goals. Today we are going to talk about stillness, finding our stillness within the stress. I received an email from one of the listeners and she asks about how to stay inspired when she feels so much stress in her life.

Do you ever feel so stressed that you want to give up? I know many of us have felt that way at least once or twice. We can be there at many different times in our life or we can dip in and out of feeling like you want to give up because of stress. You may be wearing lots of different hats and doing lots of different things, OR it could be one job or one duty of your life that is causing you to feel this way.

Balance is not something you find, It’s something you create

What is balance? As a Mom, that word can even feel unattainable or like a pipe dream right? Well, I asked a few soul sisters AND a couple of soul brothers about balance in their life, and below is what they had to say:

What does balance in your life mean as a MOM:

Maricela: Take baby steps, being attentive to our children and ourselves. Listen to our bodies, because sometimes when we try to just keep going when our body is telling us to stop that is when frustration can come in. Listen and honor what you are feeling with no expectation. The final thing, is to have fun!
